Mahindra Scorpio, a popular sport utility vehicle in the Indian market, was rolled out in the country at a time when Mahindra & Mahindra was going through its the worst ever sales slump. The launch the new Scorpio gave the company a new breath of life, and the firm has never looked back since then. The SUV has been ruling its segment for more than a decade now, becoming a synonym of premium SUVs in India. Shelved in the price segment of Rs 7.5 lakh to 12.5 lakh, the company offers a large number of variants to match the varying needs and requirements of Indian buyers of this segment. The SUV has been successfully managed to beat the rivals like Tata Safari in terms of both popularity and sales figures.

The vehicle has been through a series of upgrades and modifications since its launch in the country, and recently a 4X4 variant of this flagship Mahindra SUV was launched in the Indian market, with a starting price tag of Rs 9.17 lakh.

At present, the Mahindra Scorpio model comes powered by a 2.2 L mHawk diesel engine which is incorporated with CRDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) technology and 2 stage chain drive system. The powerful engine of the car is capable of offering a peak output of 120 bhp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 290 Nm at 1800-2800 rpm. While the five speed manual transmission version of the car delivers a    guy peak mileage of up to 15 km per liter, the automatic transmission version of the SUV offer a mileage of up to 13.5 km per liter. The vehicle just takes 14 seconds to reach-up a top speed of 100 km per hour from stand still.Mahindra Scorpio Features is notable.

The Scorpio model is also available with a less powerful Getaway version powered by a CRDE engine that is capable of generating a peak power of 81 Kw at 3800 rpm along with a top torque of 28.3 Kgm at 2200 rpm. Incorporated with a five speed manual transmission, the Scorpio Getaway takes just 15.8 seconds to cross the speed mark of 100 km per hour.

The USP of this SUV has been its superb built and fascinating up-market looks. The high-end variants of the SUV come powered by a number of technological features to offer superb performance, comfort and safety on both highway and off-road journeys. The passenger as well as vehicle safety has been rest assured with a range of active and passive features like crash protecting crumple zones, fire resistant upholstery, vehicle security system with voice assist mechanism, and many more.
